Pipelines installed by means of pipe ramming are manufactured with materials selected according to the conditions of the terrain, the type of fluid to be transported and the expected service life of the infrastructure. Among the most commonly used are:
Reinforced concrete
Ideal for large diameters and sewage pipelines, such as in projects of submarine emissaries, thanks to its structural strength and durability.Steel
Recommended for high pressure pipelines or high loads. It can incorporate internal and external coatings to improve its durability.Glass fiber reinforced plastic (GRP)
Lightweight and corrosion resistant, it is ideal for environments with high chemical or saline aggressiveness.High density polyethylene (HDPE)
Flexible and watertight, it is perfect for curved sections or with special waterproofing requirements, such as in marine catchments for aquaculture.
At Eurohinca we select the most suitable material for each project, considering technical, economic and environmental criteria, following good practices such as those set out in the Water Environment Federation's Trenchless Pipeline Materials Guide, an international reference in pipeline engineering.
