The intervention was carried out in a technically demanding environment, with the dam completely full of water and an outlet point at 35 meters deep. For this purpose, the Hydroshield DN800 tunnel boring machineThe new system guarantees precise and safe excavation.
Location and context of the project
The project was developed in the Jarosa DamThe dam is a key infrastructure for water supply and flow control in the region. The purpose of the work was to install a subway conduit that would allow the controlled evacuation of water from the bottom of the reservoir, optimizing its operation without compromising the structural stability of the dam.

Technical challenges
The main challenge of this project was the execution of the pile-driving in an environment that was completely submergedThe borehole had to ensure that the borehole could be drilled in the same direction as the pipeline, where any deviation in the trajectory could jeopardize the operation of the pipeline. The borehole had to guarantee the total impermeability to prevent unwanted seepage and ensure the stability of the surrounding soil.
Another challenge was the installation logisticsThe equipment and materials had to be transported and operated in an area of difficult access, with structural limitations for heavy machinery.
