The remote-controlled tunnel boring machine (MTBM) incorporates advanced navigation systems that allow its position to be monitored in real time and any deviations to be corrected during progress.<\/p><h3 data-start=\"1019\" data-end=\"1060\"><strong data-start=\"1023\" data-end=\"1060\">1. Alignment control (plant)<\/strong><\/h3><p data-start=\"1061\" data-end=\"1444\">The tunnel boring machine is guided by a system of <strong data-start=\"1106\" data-end=\"1126\">laser navigation<\/strong> o <strong data-start=\"1129\" data-end=\"1143\">gyroscope<\/strong> which compares the actual position with the theoretical tunnel axis. Based on this reading, the operator corrects the trajectory using lateral cylinders installed on the shield. Curvature control<\/strong><\/h3><p data-start=\"1760\" data-end=\"2142\">Bending radii are limited by the tube-joint system, the type of lubrication and the capabilities of the pushing equipment. In curved microtunnels, a <strong data-start=\"1929\" data-end=\"1955\">minimum allowable radius<\/strong> which avoids overstressing of joints and pusher stations. The MTBM adjusts the orientation progressively to describe the curve safely while maintaining an even load distribution.<\/p><h3 data-start=\"2144\" data-end=\"2191\"><strong data-start=\"2148\" data-end=\"2191\">3. Dimension control (elevation or slope)<\/strong><\/h3><p data-start=\"2192\" data-end=\"2487\">The slope is controlled by the guidance system itself, inclination sensors and the reading of the laser impact point on the target. This control is essential in <strong data-start=\"2367\" data-end=\"2394\">gravity sewers<\/strong>, where minor variations can significantly affect hydraulic performance.<\/p><p data-start=\"2489\" data-end=\"2665\">The operator adjusts chamber pressure, cutting torque and thrust to maintain elevation, avoiding local collapse or shield bounce due to sudden changes in terrain.<\/p><h3 data-start=\"2667\" data-end=\"2707\"><strong data-start=\"2671\" data-end=\"2707\">4. Continuous and as-built monitoring<\/strong><\/h3><p data-start=\"2708\" data-end=\"2980\">During driving, deviations in plan, elevation, thrust per ring, pressures and advance parameters are recorded.
